THE MAKING OF SUNKEN TOBACCO

THE MAKING OF SUNKEN TOBACCO

Our third ‘chapter’ of Eau de Parfum was launched in 2024, and as the name of the first fragrance in the collection suggested, a ‘turning point’ was reached for our brand. Clear bottles, infused with cracks, their contents designed to explore environmental, physical and imaginative ‘force’.

This third chapter is shortly to be completed by the arrival of Sunken Tobacco.

‘We have been working towards the ‘right’ tobacco fragrance for many years. So many different iterations have come and gone… but this one has really hit the mark.

I visited the Vasa museum in Stockholm years ago. Anyone who has visited that museum will know exactly what I mean when I say it has an otherworldly aroma.

It was then the idea crystallised - what would happen if we were to create a tobacco fragrance that had, like the Vasa, been submerged for centuries and in that time had been beautifully preserved, but also materially changed: become far darker, far more intense, far richer.

Why don’t we approach this tobacco like we do a whisky and allow its environment to fully form its final state? What about if it was just left, but instead of a bourbon oak cask, the medium is salt water? What would the result be?!’
